Daniel Schlein is an experienced labor and employment law attorney who focuses on minimizing the risk of costly lawsuits through employee education, counseling and training. He has extensive experience counseling both public and private sector clients as well as providing management coaching and training in harassment law and complaint procedures.
Mr. Schlein was an Assistant Director for six years with the pharmaceutical company
Pfizer in Manhattan, where he worked as a dispute resolution and employment
law specialist. In that capacity, Mr. Schlein partnered with senior line leadership
and human resource teams in many ways, including:
• Investigating numerous complex discrimination and harassment
matters.
• Providing risk analyses and counsel to reduce the possibility
of costly and disruptive litigation.
• Advising on conflict management and diversity matters to promote
productive and efficient work environments.
• Coaching senior management on corporate policies
and procedures, talent management, policy development, diversity
programs and myriad personnel matters.
Mr. Schlein has trained hundreds
of employees, including human resources professionals and managers,
in addressing and resolving workplace disputes. He created a video
training package delivered to more than 8,000 pharmaceutical field
force personnel and developed a web-based platform for domestic and
international use for managers and non-managers. He was recognized
on multiple occasions for exceptional client service, focus on performance,
quality, respect for people and teamwork.
In addition to his corporate experience, Mr. Schlein spent six years
in private practice with the New Jersey law firms of Grotta, Glassman & Hoffman (now Fox Rothschild) and Sills Cummis & Gross.
At both firms, he participated in all phases of civil litigation
at trial and appellate levels in a broad range of labor and employment
matters. He has also worked as corporate counsel for the cosmetics
company Estee Lauder in Manhattan and with the Newark firm of Adams, Sterm, Gutierrez and Lattiboudere, which represents management clients in both the public and private sectors.
He is an approved mediator for the civil courts in New Jersey as well as an approved arbitrator for the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). He completed the executive management training program at the Thunderbird School of Management in Glendale, Arizona. In addition, he earned certification in managerial excellence from the American Management Association and holds an advanced certificate in alternative dispute resolution from the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution at the Cornell School of Industrial and Labore Relations.
Mr. Schlein obtained his law degree from George Washington University and is a member of the bars of New York, New Jersey and the District of Columbia. He holds a Master’s degree in Politics from the University of Oxford and an undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University, from which he received honors and departmental high distinction.
